Assoc Prof Jamus Jerome Lim asked the Minister for Social and Family Development (a) whether the Ministry tracks the number of low-income individuals currently drawing down on their CPF balances at a monthly rate that falls below the current ComCare Long-Term Assistance (LTA) payout of $640 per month; and (b) whether any ComCare top-up to the LTA threshold is possible for such individuals who would otherwise be eligible for LTA.
I refer the Member to my reply to his written Parliamentary Question on 11 May 2021. As previously explained, ComCare Long-Term Assistance (LTA) beneficiaries with some CPF payouts or other regular sources of income will have their LTA cash payouts adjusted. However, the sum of their CPF or other income and the LTA payout will still be higher than what a beneficiary with no CPF payout or other forms of income would receive.
My earlier written reply also provided the number of households receiving both CPF payouts and LTA. These would be the same households where their CPF payouts would be less than the LTA threshold for their household.
