Debated in Parliament on 9 May 2022.
Mr Leon Perera asked the Minister for Health for each year in the past five years (a) what is the median waiting time for the booking of a new appointment at specialist outpatient clinics in public healthcare institutions for (i) all patients, (ii) private-paying patients and (iii) subsidised patients; (b) what percentage of patients have transferred to private healthcare; and (c) what is the number of non-urgent procedures that have been postponed.
The requested data is shown in the table below:
Based on available data, the majority of the public hospitals and National Specialist Centres reported around 3% to 5% postponement of non-urgent procedures in 2021. The statistics of patients who have chosen to seek care at private healthcare institutions instead are not tracked by public hospitals and National Specialist Centres.
