Debated in Parliament on 10 Jan 2022.
Mr Melvin Yong Yik Chye asked the Minister for Transport (a) since its launch on 1 January 2021, how many vehicle owners have benefited from the Electric Vehicle Early Adoption Incentive (EEAI); and (b) how much has the EEAI cost the Government thus far.
As of end 2021, 1,636 electric cars and taxis registered since 1 January 2021 benefited from the Electric Vehicle Early Adoption Incentive (EEAI). Overall, the proportion of electric cars and taxis registered has increased from ~0.2% in 2020 to ~4.4% in 2021.
The rebates given under the EEAI scheme in 2021 are about $30 million.
