Criteria to Determine White Line, Broken White Line and No Line on a Road within a Private Estate

Ms Ng Ling Ling asked the Minister for Transport (a) what are the criteria to determine if a road within a private estate with landed homes is to have a single continuous white line, broken white line or no line at all; and (b) what is the proportion of private estate roads in Singapore that have a single continuous white line, broken white line and no line respectively.

In determining the extent of parking restrictions to introduce, LTA engages closely with Advisers, grassroot leaders, and residents. Our over-riding consideration is to ensure roads are safe and traffic is smooth. However, LTA does not maintain data on the proportion of roads in private estates that have a single continuous white line, broken line and no lines.
