Debated in Parliament on 25 Mar 2020.
Mr Saktiandi Supaat asked the Minister for Transport (a) in the past three years, how many cases of emergencies attributed to food allergies have occurred onboard commercial flights from Singapore; (b) whether local commercial flights are subjected to regulations concerning medical equipment onboard; and (c) whether epinephrine auto-injectors can be mandated for inclusion in emergency medical kits on board flights.
Over the last three years, Singapore carriers have reported a total of 20 incidents of food allergies on board their flights. None required the use of epinephrine or emergency flight diversions.
Epinephrine auto-injectors are included in the emergency medical kit and cabin crew are trained in the use of the auto-injectors.
