Sylvia Lim asked whether HDB allows or would consider allowing the transfer of 2-room Flexi flats for seniors to family members or estate beneficiaries if the lessee dies before the lease ends, and under what conditions such transfers would be approved.
Lawrence Wong stated that if the sole owner of a short-lease 2-room Flexi flat dies before lease expiry, the flat can be transferred to a named beneficiary who meets HDB’s eligibility criteria for owning such a flat.
If the beneficiary is not eligible to retain the flat, HDB will reimburse them the value of the residual lease.
