Debated in Parliament on 5 Feb 2018.
Assoc Prof Daniel Goh Pei Siong asked the Minister for Transport (a) how many incidents of sexual harassment on public transport have been reported each year in the last five years; and (b) whether the public transport operators are required to implement a public safety policy with strategies to keep public transport free of sexual harassment.
The table below indicates the number of reported cases of Outrage of Modesty (OM) on public transport over the past five years.
Commuters are encouraged to report such cases, and every report is treated seriously.
LTA, TransCom and the PTOs will continue to work together to tackle OM on public transport and improve the safety and security of our commuters.
