Debated in Parliament on 7 Oct 2014.
Mr Muhamad Faisal Bin Abdul Manap asked the Minister for Transport (a) what is the rationale of having a single Certificate of Entitlement (COE) category for motorcycles; and (b) whether LTA will consider splitting the COE for motorcycles into three categories according to the engine capacity of the motorcycles which correspond to the Class 2, 2A and 2B licences.
Category D has been created for motorcycle buyers so that they need not compete with other vehicle buyers when bidding for a COE. Splitting Category D further would result in a much smaller quota available in each sub-category. This may lead to more volatility in quota and prices.
