Debated in Parliament on 8 Sep 2014.
Mr Patrick Tay Teck Guan asked the Minister for National Development what can HDB do to help flat owners whose flats are above 20 years old in defraying the costs of replacing broken/displaced floor tiles which popped up and cracked through no fault of the flat owner.
Flat owners are responsible for the maintenance of their flats, including repairs for general wear and tear. This applies to all sold residential buildings, both public and private.
Flat owners will have to engage a contractor to replace the dislodged tiles. The Housing and Development Board can assist to provide a list of repair contractors for their consideration.
