An average of 3,400 Singapore Permanent Residents (PRs) renounced their permanent residence status each year from 2006 to 2011. This works out to an annual renunciation rate of about 0.7% out of the average stock of 500,000 PRs during this period. PRs are not required to give reasons for their renunciations.
