Debated in Parliament on 8 Apr 2026.
Mr Melvin Yong Yik Chye asked the Acting Minister for Transport in the past three years (a) how many enforcement actions have been taken against the illegal retention or use of deregistered vehicles; (b) the number of vehicles seized and prosecutions commenced; and (c) what proportion of such cases involved organised syndicates or repeat offenders.
There are about 2,500 violations annually over the last three years. For most of them, prosecutions have been commenced or concluded. Four hundred and fifteen deregistered vehicles have been seized during this period. Approximately 43% of the cases involve repeat offenders.
