Debated in Parliament on 10 Sep 2026.
Miss Rachel Ong asked the Minister for National Development (a) why the minimum ecological corridor width for Gillman Barracks is 30 metres when the Environmental Impact Assessment Study (EIA) recommends 60 metres; and (b) whether the Government would consider widening it to at least 60 metres as per the recommendation in the EIA.
Miss Rachel Ong asked the Minister for National Development (a) whether the Government will consider retaining larger parts of Gillman Forest, particularly (i) higher-elevation areas where housing potential may be constrained by building-height limits or engineering considerations and (ii) secondary forest areas next to Telok Blangah Heights with significant presence of critically endangered, endangered and vulnerable flora and fauna; and (b) if not, why not.
The rezoning of Gillman Barracks for residential use did not receive any objections during the statutory consultation period for the Draft Master Plan 2025.
The current set of conceptual plans for Gillman Barracks are not the finalised plans. We are continuing to engage and take in feedback from stakeholders, including looking at ways to retain more greenery than what is set out in the current plans. We will share the finalised plans when ready.
