Debated in Parliament on 10 Sep 2026.
Ms Hazlina Abdul Halim asked the Minister for National Development whether the cat fosterer pilot will track (i) the number of cats taken in, rehomed or returned (ii) the time each cat remains in foster care and (iii) whether recognised fosterers reduce pressure on shelters and community cat populations, with these outcomes published, before making the scheme permanent.
The two-year pilot scheme for cat fosterers will track the number of approved applications and the number of cats fostered and rehomed to inform the longer-term approach to recognising cat fosterers. The National Parks Board will also seek feedback from the wider community and engage key stakeholders, including fosterers and animal shelters, when reviewing the outcomes of the pilot.
