Debated in Parliament on 9 Sep 2026.
Assoc Prof Jamus Jerome Lim asked the Minister for National Development (a) whether NParks has taken any new measures to manage persistent noise from birds roosting in trees along main roads; (b) what specific measures are taken where tree pruning and nest replacement have been shown to be ineffective; and (c) whether such measures have been undertaken for the trees around Blocks 318A and 333A Anchorvale Link and beside Blocks 326A-C Anchorvale Road.
The National Parks Board (NParks) adopts a multi-pronged and science-based approach to manage pest bird-related disamenities, which includes measures, such as regular tree pruning to disperse myna roosts, trapping and removal operations, as well as upstream food source management. To mitigate noise from myna roosts at Blocks 318A and 333A Anchorvale Link and Blocks 326A-C Anchorvale Road, NParks supports Sengkang Town Council's myna management operations within the Housing and Development Board estate by providing technical advice on pest bird trapping operations.
