Debated in Parliament on 4 Nov 2025.
The following statements were made by the Senior Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Manpower (Mr Shawn Huang Wei Zhong) during Question Time at the Sitting of 4 November 2025:
(a) We will continue to monitor the timeliness and accuracy of CPF contributions made by platform operators and work closely with our tripartite partners to ensure platform operators' interests are always protected. [Please refer to "Delayed or Missing CPF Contributions when Platform Workers Switch Platforms", Official Report, 04 November 2025, Vol 96, Issue 9, Oral Answers to Questions section.]
(b) The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) has also considered requiring back payment of the CPF contributions. However, we assessed that this might not be favourable for the platform workers who experience inconsistent monthly earnings. Those who do not set aside enough cash savings might find themselves cash strapped when platform workers deduct the platform workers' share of the CPF contributions from their back pay. I wish to make the following factual clarifications to the speech made during the oral reply for Parliamentary Question No 7 at the Sitting of 4 November 2025. My statement should read as follows:
(a) We will continue to monitor the timeliness and accuracy of CPF contributions made by platform operators and work closely with our tripartite partners to ensure platform workers' interests are always protected.
(b) The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) has also considered requiring back payment of the CPF contributions. However, we assessed that this might not be favourable for the platform workers who experience inconsistent monthly earnings.
