Studies on Public Perceptions on Wakes and After-death Arrangements

Mr David Hoe asked the Minister for Sustainability and the Environment (a) whether the Ministry has commissioned studies on public perceptions of wakes and after-death arrangements; and (b) if so, whether and when insights will be publicly communicated to encourage conversations and shape community attitudes toward wakes in neighbourhoods.

My Ministry will study various aspects of after-death practices from time to time. Such studies inform and support policy making and reviews. Currently there is no active study.
