Debated in Parliament on 4 Feb 2025.
Leader of the House.
Mr Speaker, Sir, I believe that the next item on the Order Paper, which is the Maintenance of Racial Harmony Bill, as well as the second item, the Constitution of the Republic of Singapore (Amendment) Bill, will be moved by the Minister for Home Affairs. Mr Speaker, I believe you will also be asking for them to be debated together.
Mr Speaker, may I seek your consent and the general assent of Members present to move that the proceedings on the item under discussion be exempted from the provisions of Standing Order No 48(8) to remove the time limit in respect of the Minister for Home Affairs' speeches.
I give my consent. Does the Leader of the House have the general assent of hon Members present to so move?
Hon Members indicated assent.
With the consent of Mr Speaker and the general assent of Members present, question put and agreed to.
Resolved, "That the proceedings on the item under discussion be exempted from the provisions of Standing Order No 48(8) to remove the time limit in respect of the Minister for Home Affairs' speeches". – [Ms Indranee Rajah.]
