Debated in Parliament on 8 May 2023.
Assoc Prof Jamus Jerome Lim asked the Minister for Transport whether he can provide an update on the feasibility study commissioned for a new MRT line serving the north and north-east regions, which is separate from the North-South Line (NSL) and Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) and running through Sengkang West, as announced in the Land Transport Master Plan 2040.
Rail projects are major and complex public investments. A comprehensive range of factors is assessed before any decision is made to build a new rail line, including existing and future land use developments along the corridor, existing public transport options and engineering considerations.
