Debated in Parliament on 6 Feb 2023.
Ms Mariam Jaafar asked the Minister for Social and Family Development since the launch of the Office of the Public Guardian Online (a) what has been the uptake in applications for Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA); and (b) what proportion of LPA applications are made online.
The Office of the Public Guardian received more than 10,600 applications since the launch of OPG Online (OPGO) on 14 November 2022, up to 31 January 2023. This is 45% higher when compared to a similar period one year ago.
Of these, eight out of 10 were made online. The hard copy applications received during this period were LPA applications that were certified before the launch of OPGO, but such applications are expected to decline.
