The Fire Safety (Amendment) Bill aims to strengthen Singapore's fire safety framework by granting SCDF enhanced enforcement powers, including longer closure orders for non-compliant premises and increased penalties for serious offences.
It introduces new requirements for designated buildings to create Emergency Response Plans covering fire-related emergencies and to form competent Company Emergency Response Teams, with grace periods provided for compliance.
The bill also expands SCDF's investigative powers to cover a wider range of evidence and extends licensing and safety controls to petroleum pipelines and earthworks near them.
